How do I get a copy of my Decree Absolute?

To get a copy of a Divorce Decree Absolute or Final Order, contact the Court where the Divorce or dissolution took place.

If you know the case number, a copy of a Decree Absolute or Final Order currently costs £5.00*

If you don’t know the case number, the Court will have to search for the document, and the current cost is £40.00*

What if I can't afford the fee?

You may not have to pay a court fee or you may only have to pay a contribution towards the court fee depending on your circumstances. For further information, or to apply for a fee concession, ask court staff for a copy of the combined booklet and form EX160A - Court fees - Do you have to pay them? This is available from any County Court Office, or a copy of the leaflet can be downloaded from the internet at:www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk

If you don’t remember which court dealt with your case, you can ask the Principal Registry of the Family Division to search its central index. This will currently cost £60.00*

Follow this link and fill in the form

You should then return it to the Principal Registry with the fee.
