Mr Steven Matthews BA (Hons)
I became a solicitor in 1991, having done a History degree at Birmingham University. My legal career has seen a mix of Private Practice and Civil Service work; I spent a number of years as a Senior Crown Prosecutor in Wolverhampton and then did advocacy work throughout Shropshire and the Black Country on a freelance basis. I have been employed by well-known firms in Birmingham and Shropshire. At Darwin Matthews, I deal with Family Law, Personal Injury Law, Wills and Probate and Road Traffic Law. I am a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers(APIL).
I have a wonderful son, aged 5. I live near to Church Stretton and love walking in the Shropshire Hills. I go to St Laurence's church in Church Stretton. I have a dog and other animals. I enjoy most sports, both playing and watching, and really love the "great outdoors" generally. Recently I took Spanish lessons and went on a fabulous adventure to Peru. I write poems, mainly nonsense ones, and published a small volume of rhymes for children not long ago. Please visit www.petalpowerpublishing.co.uk

I am a born and bred Shropshire girl, having grown up on a smallholding near Pontesbury and spent my days rounding up cows on my pony and looking after various animals.

I have lived here in Shrewsbury all my life and I have amassed 22 years of experience in Courts/Legal work, specialising in matrimonial and family issues. At Darwin Matthews Solicitors, I am specialising in providing legal advice on Family Law and Civil Law issues.
I’ve travelled widely but have found I especially enjoy the food and culture of Europe and the Mediterranean in particular. Since having my daughter 6 years ago, it became apparent she had severe food allergies and since then I have dedicated time to researching and ensuring all her needs are met without her missing out on anything.
In my spare time I enjoy gardening, growing fruit and vegetables and in turn cooking and creating allergy-friendly recipes and specialised cakes for home and parties. In addition, I do voluntary work at my daughter’s school assisting Reception and Year One classes.

Originally from South Manchester, I started work as a Clerical Officer for a schools examination board before joining Greater Manchester Police as a WPC. I served for 6 years, stationed in Manchester City centre and worked in uniform and CID, passing the Sergeant’s examination within a couple of years. After an enthusiastic start I came to the conclusion that I was not suited to the violence, which came in abundance! I left the Police Force and spent 4 years working for TSB Bank as a Systems Analyst before taking a few gap years when I became a housewife and mother to two beautiful daughters.
We spent 4 years living in Belgium where I trained and worked part-time as a fitness instructor. On returning to England (Winchester), I worked for 5 years, supporting Schools Inspectors. We moved to Shropshire where I joined a local solicitors practice in Shrewsbury as Assistant Practice Manager. After 3 years I went on to work for an Association which provided support to local councils. My role at the Association dealing with a wide range of administrative matters, and guidance on procedural, employment and legal matters. At Darwin Matthews Solicitors I am specialising in Personal Injury Law.
I am also a qualified swimming instructor and teach a couple of hours a week.
When I’m not working I enjoy mountain biking and walking on the Shropshire Hills. I have two gorgeous chocolate labs who take me for walks. I also enjoy a quick dip in the local pool.

Born and raised in Lincolnshire I came to Shrewsbury in 1972 and loved the county and people so much that I have stayed here. I starting working in Solicitors straight from school (a very long time ago!!) and have experience in most departments, but never in Personal Injury or PPI. I worked as John Bowdler's secretary for 15 years before he died and then the firm merged a couple of times and I was then "let go". I joined Darwin Matthews in March of this year and absolutely love the firm and its people and actually learning and enjoying the work, being an area of law I have not experienced before.
I became single in 2001 and started working in a local country pub to help pay the bills and meet new people. It was while working in this pub that I met my wonderful husband John (a real gentleman). Between us we have four lovely now adult children and a squatting dog (one of our children's) called Mocha a Lhasa Apso Tibetian Guard Dog) but he is such a sweetie and we love him to pieces!!
My hobbies are walking the dog, reading, interior design, gardening and have now joined the local amateur drama group.
I am originally from Dudley in the West Midlands and moved to Welshpool 8 years ago. I have worked as a Legal Secretary for 11 years in all aspects of Law at different firms in the Midlands. I did have 6 years not working within the Legal Profession doing different telesales jobs, and am now loving my time with Darwin Matthews. I have recently started studying Law through the Open University.
Most of my spare time is spent with my partner and our dog Bert. I like to read novels and have started to take more interest in improving my cooking.
I am Kelly Sanders and I have lived in Shrewsbury all my life. I am an admin archivist within the Company. I began working for Darwin Matthews in June 2012 and this is my first job working within the legal environment, I do enjoy working here.
I work part time and otherwise enjoy spending quality time with my family. I have recently got married and have two wonderful children who keep me very busy. I do like to spend time with my friends and love going on shopping trips!
Legal Accounts Manager
I have lived in Shropshire all my life, educated at the Mary Webb School and Shrewsbury College. I have 20 years' experience working as a Legal Accounts Manager / IT Administrator for some of Shropshire's most prominent legal firms. I am a member of The Institute of Legal Accounts Managers and have passed their Solicitors Accounts Dipolma examination. I advise all the staff on the Solicitors Accounts Rules and provide computer desktop support and training. I have written and designed our website with help from all my colleagues.
In my spare time, I like to spend as much time as possible with my family and I run The Shrewsbury Premier Darts League, in relation to which I have my own weekly column in The Shrewsbury Chronicle.

Founding Father and Naturalist
Hello, I’m Darwin. I was born in Shrewsbury in 1809 and enjoy travelling. I once spent nearly five years on a boat travelling around the world, doing things such as collecting insects. Not everyone’s cup of tea, I realise! My special interests include barnacles, coral reefs and theory development.
I once wrote a book called “On the Origin of the Species”, which has enjoyed some success over the years. You can read about my complete works at http://darwin-online.org.uk/ If you see me out and about in Shropshire, please don’t be shy; I am always happy to say "hello", shake a hand and exchange the time of day. I like to keep a great great grandpaternal eye on the team at Darwin Matthews. There are those who say I look rather like that chap Santa Claus, but I don' know about that........
